Okay...we aren't really being held captive. We are on day 15th of our
residency at Hermann Memorial Hospital in the Texas Medical Center
(Houston). David is making slow progress. The 7 days on the ventilator
and slow recovery from his long stay in ICU weakened him more than I
had thought possible. The stroke was a clot in the right side of his
brain. It has affected motor skills on the left side of his body, but
not his intellect. He is undergoing physical, speech and occupational
therapy and each day shows progress in movement and speech. He is
gaining back sounds and learning to coordinate the muscles on the strong
side (right side) with the weak side. In some cases I am sure that new
pathways are being established and with more use he will make more
gains. Really, the brain is a most wonderful organ! I think people
should be able to leave us comments here just click on the Visitor Thoughts link... I am not sure how that works
with Google site websites...it is a new adventure! |
